City Women full-back Flo Allen believes her side have a good opportunity to bounce back this weekend from a disappointing result against Spurs at home.
The Robins welcome London City Lionesses to the SGS College Stoke Gifford Stadium following back to back wins in the FA Continental Cup, most recently a 2-1 away victory over fellow Barclays FAWSL side, Brighton & Hove Albion.
“Last weekend was disappointing, it wasn’t the result we set out to get. We feel as though we have so much more to give in terms of performance levels and that’s something we want to put right this weekend and hopefully continue our good run in the cup, said Allen
“We’ve got a couple of wins under our belt in the cup, in the last game against Brighton we did really well going away from home and we’re looking forward to this weekend and putting some wrongs right.
“The cup has been good for us this year, it’s been nice to get a couple of wins on the board and hopefully we can continue it this weekend.”
Allen has praised the level of depth within the Bristol City squads as those on the fringes of the starting eleven in the league have stepped up and performed well in the FA Continental Cup so far.
“We’ve got a deeper squad this year with more quality right the way through the ranks and I think anyone within the squad can step up and do a job when called upon.“For those that have found it hard to come by minutes, myself included, the cup is a great opportunity to get out there on the pitch stake our claim for a starting shirt when league action resumes.
“Our game against Brighton in the last round of fixtures was great. Especially to go away to another Barclays WSL side and hold the lead for as long as we did, then when times got tough and our backs were up against the walls we stepped up and defended well. That can give us confidence heading into this game.
“London City has had some really good results in the league and it’ll be a tough game. They’re going to come to us and try to put on a performance to get a win, but we’ll be ready for the challenge as we want to get back to winning ways.”
