The Nigerian and FC Barcelona attacker named the Confederation of African Football African player of the year.
Hurghada, Egypt (January 7, 2020) Asisat Oshoala has been named the 2019 African Women’s Footballer of the Year at this years Confederation of African Football Awards. The awards ceremony took place in Hurghada, Egypt on the 7th of January, 2020.
Oshoala joined FC Barcelona at the beginning of 2019. She made 20 league appearances for the club in the last calendar year, scoring 17 goals. She also helped Barcelona reach the Champions League final.
With Nigeria, Oshoala appeared in her second Women’s World Cup last summer. The Super Falcons reached the round of 16, exiting the group stage for the second time in their history with Oshoala scoring one goal in that campaign.
This is the Oshoala’s fourth win of this award. She is currently equal with fellow Nigerian Perpetua Nkwocha in most wins.
